Your mind races. Your heart beats faster. A knot is growing in your stomach and you notice that your fists are clenched. You may cry, scream or throw things – or you may do nothing at all – but inside your head, a time bomb keeps ticking.
What’s wrong? You are angry.
You might think, “I don’t have a problem with anger,” but if you are like most people, there are times when you respond to anger in unhealthy ways. While it is true that most people do not let their anger get so out of control that their actions become criminal, it doesn’t mean they aren’t hurting themselves or others.
Every day, even in your city, a mother gets so angry with her two year old that she slaps his face. Every day, in a home not so different from yours, a husband boils over with rage, swearing and spewing harsh words that inflict deep and sometimes permanent wounds. Every day, even in your neighborhood, a teenager turns to drugs or alcohol to dull the pain of their anger.
But there is hope for real change. What is the answer? Lives surrendered to Jesus Christ!
That’s the message Walking By Faith is bringing in this month’s Word in Season article, and that is the message we promote through every aspect of our ministry.
