A CLEAN SLATE

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” – Psalm 103:12

Have you ever tried to forget something from your past, only to have it creep back up when you least expect it? Past regrets, guilt, and painful memories have a way of sticking around, even when we know God has forgiven us. That is because although our sins have been forgiven, our consciences still need to be cleansed.
But what about the sins we commit after we come to Christ? The wrong attitudes, the selfish choices, the times we fall back into old habits — these, too, can weigh us down and cloud our hearts with guilt. The Apostle Paul spoke honestly about this struggle in Romans 7:15, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” Even after salvation, we wrestle with our flesh. And while sin no longer owns us, it can still trouble our minds.
The good news is that the blood of Jesus didn’t just cover your past — it continues to cleanse you today. 1 John 1:9 tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Even after a stumble, you can turn back to Him, knowing His mercy is fresh, and His blood is still enough.
Remember this: when you said yes to Jesus, you did not just get a new chance — you got a new heart, a new Spirit, and a clean conscience. There is no residue, no old marks against you, and no shame. When you fail, you do not have to start over in your own strength. Instead, run to the only One whose blood gives you a clean slate!
