And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13 (NKJV)
Last week, we explored the fact that God is currently, at this very moment, in Heaven creating, building, and establishing a New Heaven and New Earth. One day He will return with His new Kingdom, and we will enter into eternity with Him. Yet at the same time, the Spirit of God is already here living within every believer. He is not just in Heaven, but is right here alive within us, speaking to us, guiding us, and making us a New Creation. We are becoming new every day, and better reflecting His image to the world around us.
Yet as part of this, we must not forget that we have been called to ‘go’ into the world and bring His Gospel to all peoples. This doesn’t just mean people continents away, but even the neighbor’s right in your neighborhood. Jesus isn’t going to do all of the work, but He has also called us to be co-workers, or co-laborers, for His Kingdom.
Before we were born, He knew us and created us with specific gifts, talents, and a voice. Better yet, we were made with a purpose! He did not make us to sit stagnant where we are, especially once we come to know Him. We are all called to get up, use our talents, passions, and gifts in order to bring the light of the Gospel to the world in any capacity possible.
This week, let’s activate this call. Let’s look at what God has done for us, what He has given to us regardless of how ‘big’ or ‘small’ it may be in our eyes, and impact someone’s heart for His Kingdom. Our action doesn’t just impact the world today, and we may not even see its full impact in this life, but we can rest assured that it reverberates into eternity.
